active listings are the lever, not sourcing

I doubled monthly revenue without sourcing more. I just kept more listings live.

I spent the back end of last year convinced I needed to source more stock to earn more. Charity shops every weekend, car boots on Sundays, eBay job lots on a Tuesday. Revenue stayed flat.

The thing I'd missed: I had hundreds of items already photographed and sat unlisted. The jump from £210 a month to £465 happened because I went from 38 active listings to 122 active listings — not because I bought a single new piece of stock. Active count is the lever.

Sourcing is downstream of it. VintSnap is what made 122 active feasible in the time I had. Two evenings a week, an hour each, batch it through.

The stock was already in the flat.

every listing is read by two completely different audiences — most sellers write for one and lose the other

the listing was slow, so the sales were slow, so I lost heart — the flywheel that looked like laziness

listing doesn't fail because it's hard — it fails because *starting* is hard (the bag by the door)
